White-walled “shirokabe” buildings remain the stand-out feature in Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, a popular tourist spot for domestic and international travelers. There’s plenty to see here, including elegant riverboats and fashionable cafes in renovated historical buildings.
The historical district has distinct atmosphere, and is currently seeing a boom of cosplayers!
At the the Yumiko Igarashi Museum, there is a selection of over 100 dresses for you to try on and take pictures in: a popular princess experience. As the origin of domestically produced denim, there are also “denim kimono” unique to Kurashiki. Even better, you can wear such apparel as you explore the historical quarter.
There’s also cuisine that’s colored blue to match the jeans theme. Please try the curiously blue yet certifiably tasty Denim-man, Denim Burgers, and other cuisine!
